Halooooo!
I trust you had a blessed and fulfilling weekend and are ready to kick-start this new week. I wish you nothing but the Lord's blessing!
This week we have some more fresh manna and today I'd like us to decode God's will Vs Our will. Two very conflicting decisions that we are faced with everyday and in almost all the choices that we make.
Relationships, Marriage, Career, Friends, Decisions and etcetera. We are at one point bound by the two decisions and this will affect nearly every aspect of our lives in the future.
The first thing to do when you're trying to ascertain the will of God is to seek at the beginning to have your mind and heart in such a state that it has no will of its own regarding a matter. But this is a toll request because majority of us go to seek God in prayer when our minds and hearts are already made up! And we end up following our way believing that since we prayed, then it should be 'God's will'. But unfortunately, it ends up not being God's will at all, and the results of this are seen by the end result itself. Therefore, our hearts are minds should be so ready to do the Lord's will no matter what it may be. We must be open to accept it no matter its cost.
Secondly, we can ascertain the will of God following The Holy Spirit's guidance and the Word of God. The Holy Spirit will always guide us according to the Word of God and it will never be contrary to the Word. So understanding the scripture here becomes very critical because the Holy Spirit of God will use The Word to decipher to us what is required of us in our walk with Christ. The Bible is God's breath and therefore it should our mirror in how we live here on earth and how we relate with one another.
Thirdly, we are required to go before the Lord in prayer and ask Him to reveal His will to us. When we go before the Lord we ought to go before Him without having any will of our own in our hearts, as we saw earlier and accepting the will of God in totality.
Therefore, through prayer, the study of the Word and reflection, we will be able to discern the Will of God and if our hearts are at peace and continue being at peace even after two to three petitions, then bingo! We have the answer and this is definitely God at work. However, if our hearts are troubled and we're confused and all, then brothers and sisters, God is not in it! Leave it.
I read somewhere that one of the ways the spirit world communicates to us is through peace in our hearts and some intuition. When you have no peace it definitely means that the communication is clear, things are not okay somewhere and you'll need to evaluate yourself and your surrounding.
There's also another video I was listening to and the lady was talking about her marital journey and how at the beginning of the relationship, she felt her intuition saying no no. But girl continued in the relationship, ignoring all the red flags and ended up marrying the guy. Unfortunately, the marriage didn't last for long and they separated. So she was wishing that she had followed her 6th sense, her intuition, but oops! It was already too late.. How many times have you ignored the inner voice telling you that a particular path you're taking is dangerous? One of the greatest decisions we will ever make in this life is in the choice of a marriage partner. One mistake will cost us to the end. So, involve God in every area of your life and seek His will earnestly.
You can never miss it with God!
George Mueller, one of my favorite prayer warriors once said, "If it were the Lord, He would bring it about, but if not that He would graciously be pleased to take all thoughts about it out of my mind." If something is not from God, may He remove every thought about it from our minds that we may live up to His standards and for His glory!
There is nothing the Lord withholds from them that walk uprightly. Psalms 84:11, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
Examine your hearts and check your motives. Why are you praying for something and it's not coming to pass, maybe its the motives you have in your hearts.
Let the glory of God be our chief aim, that it may be seen that its not a vain thing to trust in the living God.
So which way are you going to choose?
Deut 30:19 "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live."
Choose Life and.......
Follow God's will ALWAYS!
God bless you!
