An Encounter with Jesus.

Hey friends!
How many would love to have an encounter with Jesus? I know its a beautiful supernatural experience that can take our breaths away!

How can we encounter Jesus today?

The resurrection of Jesus from death was a historical event that happened as it had been prophesied and as He had also talked about it before he was nailed to the cross. When He resurrected from the dead, people experienced Him as He appeared to His disciples. And you know what Jesus still appears to us today!

During the time of His resurrection, Jesus was present, and He was seen. It was not just a spiritual presence but his physical, transformed body was present with His disciples.

When we read Luke 24:13, when Jesus first appeared to the disciples who were walking to Emmaus, He revealed Himself in two main ways.

Firstly, through the Scripture and secondly, through the Bread.

Jesus began to explain to the two disciples what was said about Him,

Vs 17 ‘’He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still; their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

“What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”

He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” and beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

This was surely a wonderful Bible Study with Jesus!!!

Have you ever had an encounter with the Word of God burning within you? The Words of Christ become so relevant when I am reading His Word and it begins to feel like God is speaking directly to me. And this is the importance of always sharing the Good News to others.

Share what has been revealed to you to others as well and be a blessing. Does your heart burn within you as you ponder on His Word? The disciples asked each other, , “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

We get a taste of this every time we hear the Bible explained in a way to reveal Jesus.

The second way Jesus Christ revealed Himself to the disciples was through the Bread.

The Word of God says, ‘’When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.’’

We too can encounter Jesus in the breaking of bread and when we celebrate Communion together. The scriptures and the Bread are the two main ways we can encounter Jesus today.

Jesus will continue to reveal Himself to us through the study of the His Word and as we break bread together. If you desire to experience the presence of Jesus, ensure you do these two things on a regular basis and not just anytime and make it a habit when you haven’t sought Christ more in repentance.

Taking Holy Communion is important, but we must ensure that we’re not abusing the sacraments and taking them with impurity hidden in our hearts. Let’s search ourselves every time.

As you study the scripture, may your heart burn within you as you encounter Jesus through them and as you receive the bread and wine, may your eyes be opened to recognize the King!

God bless you!
